Steamboat Springs Free Summer Concert Series 2011

The Steamboat Springs FREE Summer Concert Series is a Steamboat summer tradition with five free concerts throughout the summer. Come down to the Howelsen Hill amphi-theatre, in the heart of downtown Steamboat Springs, for a night of FREE live music. Don’t forget your picnic blanket, chair and dancing shoes!

The free concerts start around 5:00 p.m. with an opening band and then the main act to follow. There will be food vendors, kids activities and beer sales at the concert. No alcohol or dogs can be brought into the concert.

The 2011 Penguin Plunge at Catamount Ranch and Club in Steamboat Springs:

The Annual fundraiser for Yampa Valley Medical Center will provide an outlet for those who do not want to jump into 33-degree water on a mid-March morning. They’ll be a pool side to jump instead that is going to be warmer, another option this year.

The “8th Annual Penguin Plunge” will help start a three-year fundraising effort for Yampa Valley Medical Center’s cancer care services. Funds raised will benefit new patient navigation software and programs, part of an effort to earn accreditation from the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer.
A kick-off party at 5:30 p.m. March 3 at Sweetwater Grill. The party will feature food, drinks, commemorative glasses, a prize drawing for a flat-screen TV and a celebration of fundraising efforts, this is also a newer event. The event is known for teams of plungers in colorful, creative costumes jumping into frigid water before warming up in a hot tub amid a festive atmosphere. Volunteers chain saw through ice to open up the pool.
